Welcome to team 1086 Blue Cheese Robotics scouting data base. Within you will find all your scouting needs. How to best utilize the scouting system If possible it is best complete the system in this order; on practice day your team should be working on the pit sheet, this allows for your team get a general idea of the completion and allows for all of the teams competing to meet your team. On the first day of qualifiers the focus should be the collection of the data for the data base thus allowing your team to prepare for matches using the data base as soon as information is placed within the "RAW DATA" tab of the spread sheet. -Pit Sheet (Recommended groups of 2) - Robot Info This is the section that is used to get a general idea of what the robot can do. - Kicker This allows you to collect information about the specifications and type of kicker the robot may have. - Game Play The section allows for you to collect information about the teams basic game strategy. - Notes The note section allows for any outstanding quality of function the team may have. -Stands Sheet (Recommended 7 people; one person for each robot on the field and one to record information in the computer) - Zone Section The zone section of the stand scouting sheet allows for most of the information required for the excel sheet to be collected. The intention for the document is to be printed and used for each individual team during a match. After the information is collected the information can be consolidated into the spread sheet if only one set of data is collected per team (recommendation = collect multiple sets of data for each and average the information for the best data pool). - Autonomous Have you ever heard that a picture is worth a thousand words? This section allows for you to do that. In this section you can prove that, you draw and use symbols to map out what the team did during the autonomous period. (SPECIAL) = Always make sure that the team number is on the page the information is no good if you don't know who it is. - Definition "Positive" = Goals scored that benefit the team scoring "Negative" = Goals scored that do not benefit the team scoring "Start" = Where the robot starts during the beginning of the match "Most Time Spent in" = This is where the robot spent the majority of the match "End Game" = Describes what the team did during the last twenty seconds (including but not limited to scoring, elevation, suspension, neither, and if other robots suspended off of them) -Excel Sheet - Team Search This section allows for you to search the data inserted within the "RAW DATA" section. You are only able to change the information within the yellow cell to protect the integrity of the formulas. - Regional Search The "Regional Search" tab allows for team to search an entire regional at a time finding their weighted scores for; Offense, Defense, and End Game Points. *If using the "Blank Regional" or "Blank Regiona 2" slot after the new regional name is inserted within the "RAW Data" tab all of the other tabs with self update and you will need to then enter the new regional name in the search bar. - RAW DATA The First step when using the spread sheet is to find the desired regional (so far there are VA, NC, Palmetto, and a Blank Regional and Blank Regional 2 = Any regional can be entered here, DON'T change tab name). All of the information gathered with the Pit and Stands Scouting sheets can be entered on the "RAW DATA" tab. After all of the information has been entered on the Raw Data Page you can proceed the "Regional Name" (Output Spread) tab. (SPECIAL) = If entering a new Regional section you MUST enter the regional name in the gray box where "Blank Regional" is located or where "Blank Regional 2" is located. (SPECIAL) = Within the end game section only enter in one category (Elevated, Suspended, or Neither) these boxes have a yellow fill on the title section of the "RAW DATA" tab. (SPECIAL) = Within "RAW DATA" Darker blue = Points actually scored and Lighter Blue = Points attempted but failed. (SPECIAL) = ONLY the YELLOW cells can be edited all other cells have been protected to insure the integrity of the database. If you have any request or suggestions please email bluecheese1086@yahoo.com P.S. All regional data is located on the "RAW DATA" tab some are just lower than others -How we get the numbers Offense = [(the amount of far goals (scored) + (attempted) * FAR (weight)) + (the amount of middle goals (scored) + (attempted) * Middle (weight)) + (the amount of NEAR goals (scored) + (attempted) * NEAR (weight))] * offense (weight)) Defense = (the amount of "Balls Blocked") * (defense (weight) End Game = (the end game type) * (End Game (weight) - Weights The weight section of the spread sheet is found on the "Regional Search" tab right hand side of the sheet. Weighting a section allows for a team to find a disireable charcter trait that a different team excels at. Such as if during alliance pairings a team knew that they needed a robot that could kick the length of the field then they could turn the "Middle" and "NEAR" sections to 0 or raise the "FAR" section thus allowing the team to single out that charcter trait. - Definitions - Weight = The value represents how desirable a quality is - "Regional Name" = The Regional Name located on the tab - "Attempted" = a ball's postion was altered due to a robot with the intention of scoring or the intent of changing the ball's zone location - Recondmendations After doing this for several years here are a few sugestions; keep a binder for all of the Pit and Stands sheets orgainized (everything is easier when you know where it is), save often, and the more people helping makes things go faster.
