School: Every Great Cheese needs to be cultured in the right atmosphere!
Deep Run High School is a supportive Partner of FIRST® Robotics TEAM 1086 Blue Cheese, helping us be as GOUDA as we can be.
Robotics is integrated into the curriculum in 14 classes. Students enrolled in Physics and Chemistry study kinematics, electric motors, and pneumatics in relation to the engineering design process. Woodworking and Construction classes teach engineering principles. Intro to Engineering, Engineering Drafting, and Advanced Tech teach students AutoCAD, Pro Engineer, and Solid Works. 30% of our Cheeseheads are enrolled in the Center for Information Technology (CIT) where they learn project management skills, Java, and web design.
As a Sport for the Mind, we share our accomplishments along with the traditional sports teams at our school. We participate in pep-rallies, homecoming parade, DRHS Marathon Dance, and were represented in the Mr. Deep Run Contest. We also demo at the CIT Orientation, Freshman Orientation, and the CIT Open House. We recruit new team members through these demos as well as an annual ice cream social. We also participate in team building and bonding activities year round.
Our Cheeseheads have to be SHARP! Our No Cheesehead Left Behind program ensures that our members are Blue Ribbon standard by offering comprehensive tutoring opportunities. Our Cheese Whiz Academy teaches rookie members Business, Chairman’s, Electrical, Mechanical & Pneumatics.
