Team 1086 Inspires Elementary School Kids for a life of FIRST® Robotics
Team 1086 visited Colonial Trails Elementary school recently for the Math and Technology Showcase. SWISS, the robot from 2010 and the CheeseHeads inspired over 215 kids with their soccer ball kicking robot.

Extraordinaire Programmer finds friends for life in FIRST® Robotics
Josh has always been a programmer. Even from a very young age he was reading programming books and writing code. But when he discovered FIRST® Robotics he found not only an outlet for his programming skills, he found a team full of friends.
Immersed in FIRST® Robotics at home, Matthew becomes a leader on Team 1086
Matthew started his robotics passion with FLL with his mother as FLL coach. When he arrived at Deep Run, he knew he had to join Team 1086. And in the years since, he has become a leader, having been voted team captain for the 2010-2011 season.
Coach Clarke has been inspiring and coaching FIRST® Robotics members for eleven years. In 2010, he was awarded the Woodie Flowers regional award. Coach Clarke continues inspring and mentoring 1086, teaching the value of hard work, critical thinking and having fun.
1086 is very lucky to have Ms. Petrie join the team as a coach and mentor. As a local middle school advanced math teacher, and with eight years as FLL coach and FRC team mom, She is well suited to coaching FIRST® Robotics Team 1086. Welcome Ms. Petrie!
