Dave "Jumper" Cohen, to us is the embodiment of FIRST® Robotics ideals. An Electrical Engineer working at our Sponsor/Partner FLEXICELL, he mentors us year round.
Dave was wary of getting involved with FIRST® Robotics when he started working at Flexicell in 2005, but when he finally got involved, he became just as addicted as the rest of us. He has bonded with the team, the coaches and the mentors.
Although Jumper has no kids of his own he has adopted our team with extraordinary passion. He teaches us about the design and build process and spends countless hours shepherding rookies around the shop equipment, all the while training them to use the complicated machinery safely and effectively.
One of the best things about Jumper is the way he empowers the girls on our team with his can do attitude.
Recently he said:
"Although the robot is fun, it is getting to know the kids and teaching them that is the most rewarding part of Team 1086. That is why I do this year after year."
