Team Captain Amar – Building His Future through FIRST® Robotics
When Amar first came to Deep Run High School, he had no interest in robotics. He was focused on academics and was solely interested in a club that taught new lessons and experiences. He was introduced to FIRST® thanks to several friends. Once he attended a few meetings, he realized that he could learn things never taught in class.
In the beginning, he was all about the build and then he became passionate about FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC).
Each year he learned more and rose through the ranks of the Deep Run High School Robotics team. Eventually he was able to excel on the team and soon became one of the Captains in his senior year (2010-2011).
As a result of his participation on the Blue Cheese FIRST® Robotics team, Amar developed leadership skills and the much desired ability to remain calm under pressure. Now in his final year, he works hard with his friends on the Design and Build team. He especially enjoys building new items from scratch.
Immersion in FIRST® Robotics has kindled Amar's passion in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). After High School he plans to attend college and major in Biomedical Engineering.
